Privacy policy
Rangle · last updated 29 September 2026
Rangle is an app for finding activities and people to do them with — friends and friends of friends. This statement covers the iPhone app and the website at rangle.fly.dev.
Who is responsible
Rangle is run by Bjørn Nordlund. Send privacy questions using the feedback option under Profile in the app or on the website. You can delete your account under Profile.
What we collect
- Email and password. If you create an account yourself, we store your email and a password hash. We do not store the password as plain text.
- Google. Google ID, name, email, and profile photo.
- Apple. Apple ID, and your name and email if you choose to share them. Apple can hide your email address.
- Phone and contacts. If you share your number, we store a hash rather than the number itself. If you grant contact access, we hash those numbers to suggest others who use Rangle. A match does not become a friendship until the other person accepts. The friend link is a code you share yourself. We do not store names from your contacts.
- Location. If you agree, we store your approximate location to show nearby people and places, and the home area you choose.
- Chat. Messages and photos you send in an event. Photos are stored as files on the server.
- Notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token or browser subscription to deliver them.
- Activity in the app. Activities you enable, invitations, replies, and crews you belong to.
How we use it
To sign you in, show friends and friends of friends, suggest people nearby, send activity invitations and show a meeting place on the map. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
Who can see it
Others on Rangle can see your name, profile photo, approximate distance, and whether you are joining an activity they are invited to. Session hosts can see who has replied.
Storage
Data is stored in Rangle's database (Postgres at Neon) and the API at fly.io in the EU (Stockholm). Sign-in keys are stored on your device.
Data deletion
Under Profile, choose Delete account. This deletes your account, friendships, contact hashes, location, notification tokens, browser subscriptions, messages, and events you host, including photos. Crews where you are the only member are also deleted. This cannot be undone. Signing out keeps your account.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, or deletion. If you are in the EEA, you also have the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
English summary
Rangle is a social app for doing activities with friends and friends-of-friends. You can create an account with email and a password, which we store as a hash, or sign in with Google or Apple. Google gives us your Google ID, name, email and profile photo. Apple gives us an Apple ID, and your name and email if you choose to share them. If you share a phone number or your contacts, we store hashes of the numbers, not the names or the numbers themselves. A phone match is only a suggestion until the other person accepts, or until someone opens a friend link you share. Optional location is used to find people and venues nearby. Chat messages and photos are stored so the people in an event can see them. A push token or browser push subscription is stored only if you allow notifications. We do not sell your data. Delete the account from Profile in the app. That erases the account and the data listed above.
